Learn and practice with fellow advocates who are just starting out at domestic abuse and sexual assault organizations.  For one day participants will gather to review DV dynamics, trauma, and counseling basics, and practice skills during this highly interactive training. The theme this spring is "the Plurality of Anti-violence Work". End Abuse co-sponsors the meeting with American Indians Against Abuse (AIAA) and the WI Coalition Against Sexual Assault (WCASA). Join Amy Judy and Diane Wolff to learn strategies for helping those who have significant mental health needs to find safety and social support, and special guest Rachel White Domain (National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma and Mental Health) to learn how to apply trauma-informed principles specifically to your legal advocacy work with survivors. This is the fifth session of New Director U, an ongoing program  for 14 new directors of Wisconsin domestic abuse organizations. Together they are working to sustain each other in building and maintaining supportive, accepting environments that are committed to safety and well-being for all victims and their children.   Each month, participants focus on strengthening a different area of skill and knowledge that is needed to direct a fully functioning organization. (The application period has ended and participants are completing in the program.)

This annual conference is by and for advocates & activists & of color in Wisconsin.  It is a safe space for folks that identify as people of color, that work, volunteer, intern in domestic violence, sexual assault, or similar fields of gender-based violence work.
