DIRECTOR OF ADVOCACY

Full Time

 

The Director of Advocacy oversees the successful daily activities of the Family Advocacy and Support Services (FASS) and Community Domestic Abuse Advocate (CDAAP) programs. This position will lead a team of advocates who provide case management, providing leadership and management oversight of the FASS and CDAAP programs, managing the growth and sustainability of these programs and assuring delivery of high quality client service. This position will also act as liaison and technical resource for the agency, complete grant and outcomes reports to necessary funders and support fund raising efforts as needed. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and implementing annual budgets and providing community presentations and trainings as needed.

 

Must have transportation, a valid WI driver’s license, be willing to transport clients and travel as necessary along with work on-site in community based agencies located throughout the City of Milwaukee.  Evening hours may be required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, advocacy, case management and/or related field. Master’s preferred. Four to ten years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience. Requires comprehensive knowledge of statutory framework for domestic abuse, harassment and child abuse injunctions, and knowledge of and experience working with adults and/or children exposed to interpersonal violence.   Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.

 

Individual must have experience working with adults and/or children exposed to interpersonal violence with demonstrated career progression and increasing roles of responsibility; exceptional strategic planning, analytical, research, writing and oral advocacy skills, as well as the ability to articulate legal concepts and complex issues and communicate them tactfully and effectively to a variety of audiences; initiative, vision and ability to develop and implement short and long-term integrated advocacy strategies.
